Din Djarin, also known as the Mandalorian or just Mando didn't know at first about the green child, that was a Jedi in the past named Grogu, and belonged to the same species as Jedi Grand Master Yoda. Tasked to bring Grogu alive, Djarin shot IG-11 in the head, saved the infant, and took him into his custody. Now he cares about the child as about his own offspring.
