The Soot Sprites or Susuwatari are spirits that appeared in the Studio Ghibli films My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away. These little weirdos are small round balls made from the soot that live in old and abandoned houses and leave black dirt. They work in the Bathhouse in return for small star-shaped food, called Konpeitō, and are pretty friendly with Chihiro.
